it might be the CBE basketball tournament.  i believe it's in early to mid november, which would put it pretty close to the projected opening of the building, allowing for any minor delays that might pop up between now and then.

thats what i heard as well.  i hate when people say things like "mind blowing".  the problem is that there isnt much these days that is "mind blowing" so imo they are just setting themselves up for dissapointment.

I heard that they were going to have a 'major act' that would be recorded and shown in primetime television.  I think they said CBS.

Rutgers Women vs Harlem Globetrotters would be pretty mind-blowing.

Not as mind-blowing as a cage match between Rutgers Women and Don Imus

I seem to remember something about a month long series of events to celebrate the Sprint Center and the P&L district.

Whatever it ends of being, it won't be good enough for the detractors. Can we make a list ahead of time and see who's list most correctly lists the naysayers???

GENIUS.

You know, there's a chance the Rurger's women would forfeit upon learning of the Sprin Center's proximity to rib joints and...............ahhh nevermind, this is too easy.

A blowing match between Paris and Nicole?  Should be interesting, let's just hope that Paris makes parole in time for SC's opening.

DOI is the first to go on sale, but that doesn't mean it  will be the first event to take place.  I heard the first event is a Divas-Midwest concert featuring Cher and Celine Dion.  They'll be playing for the entire month of October.

It is not the opening event obviously, but KU released their schedule today and there is a December 15 game against the Univ of Ohio at the Sprint Center.

Kinda lackluster, I was kinda hopin they would play a name opponent there this year.

Some of us were speculating on what the opening act would be.

It looks like Tim McGraw/Faith Hill will be done with the tour by the time SC opens.

Garth Brooks doesn't appear to have any tour plans as of yet.

Madonna will be in Asia when SC opens.

Justin Timberlake will be winding down his tour on the west coast by September.

Keith Urban will be done with his tour by the time SC opens.

Jimmy Buffett has open dates when SC opens, but will be on the East coast.

The Police are booked to be in Dusseldorf, Germany

The "Beyonce Experience" will be in Saskatoon on the 14th, and Winnipeg on the 15th (Saskatoon???)

Aerosmith will be done with their tour.

Who else would be a huge arena act?
