2:45 am and can't sleep cause the folks upstairs are banging crap around. Whenever they walk across their floor, I can feel the vibrations shake the walls. Sounds like they're moving furniture or something while stomping in heavy soled shoes.
Can anyone recommend a good reliable (ie: not associated with the developer of this place) company that can do some soundproofing? Lord knows we wont get any help from the townsend co. We're into the third construction manager, and we're still waiting on our punch list to be completed, -- been here over a year now. Probably going to get screwed out of that in some way like they've done everything else.
Sorry for the rant. I'm really tired, really crabby, and right now i really hate this place. Just need to find some solutions.

Can anyone recommend a good reliable (ie: not associated with the developer of this place) company that can do some soundproofing? Good luck on finding a solution - we went thru the same thing of trying to soundproof our unit which has plywood subfloors, altho a previous unit had concrete, similar to Wall St. Our solution was to apply 2" layer of concrete + thinset + 5mm SoundGard Lite + thinset + hardwood floors. The sound deadening added about $15,000 to the job. The whole feild of acoustic dampening in residential and commercial construction is very complex. Two types of noise are at issue: impact (foot falls, shoes, etc) & transmission (eg, voices, music, etc). Low frequency impact noises such as footsteps are very difficult to control and to totally eliminate, you may need to isolate the floor (pretty much impossible unless you are starting from scratch). The most complete solution would be to put the sound absorbing layer immediately under their floor, rather than in your ceiling. Blowing insulation or other sound deadening material above your ceiling really isn't all that effective. Google terms like sound isolation, acoustic dampening and see what you come up with.

Might be the "stomp the yard" team that frequents the fitness room.

Dare I ask what floor/unit you live in. (Hopefully not right below me). I always hear the people upstairs from me walking, moving chairs, etc. I have asked them about it and it is usually just the females high heels, the dogs nails, sliding a chair... I don't know if there is much to be done.

Pool Update
For those of you who have not heard...
Pool construction has begun!! At the moment they are leveling the concrete walls to create a flat surface. They are a little over a week into it, and it seems like a pretty arduous process.
As previous reports indicated, all materials are ordered and in route. Current estimates are for a December completion, but we know how dates go around here. That is why they have not officially given any estimates yet.
As far as I know, plans have not changed from the renderings available in the sales office.

it's a multi-unit building....pretty much impossible to completely eliminate it unless you live in a 1900's 2' concrete floored building. Agreed though, after paying that much, it would sting a little more.

Pool construction began a long time ago, the jack hammering has been keeping me up all day (I work nights). I'll keep people updated with photos since I probably have a better view than the people living in Walstreet Tower. It's literally outside my bedroom window, which makes me wanna ask...do you have any hot ladies that live in Walstreet?

I understand that noise is annoying when you are trying to sleep, but it is part of living in a highrise, and in an urban area. There are going to be people on almost every side of you, as well as above and below. There is going to be sirens, cars, etc... Now if people are having 4 am basketball tournaments upstairs, that is a problem.
Personally, I have only had one problem, and it was pretty funny. A couple of weeks ago on a friday night, our neighbors were blaring Lionel Richie love songs. The music was coming from thier bedroom. It was about midnight. Not really sure what was going on, but I can imagine. My wife and I had a laugh, and went to bed.

Perhaps the solution is to populate the building with deaf mutes.

Pool construction started a week ago last Friday. they have been refurbishing the parking garage for the last couple of months. And yes we have a lot of hot ladies, but they are installing a large privacy wall on the east side so only WST residents can view the bathing beauties. Sorry.

That better be some wall to block my top level view. So this wall is being built specifically to keep us moderate income folks at the PB Lofts from lookin' at your precious residents? It's like JoCo in the downtown loop! At least give the bartenders, servers, dancers, artists, musicians, stylists, athletes (yes, a Wizard lives here), and young professionals & college grads that live in my building a chance to see a lil' bit of paradise. Funny thing is that I could've easily been able to afford a two bedroom unit at the Walstreet Tower prior to my divorce, but the wife didn't want to live in the city.

I just closed on my unit in WST this last Friday and spent way too long trying to figure out how that garage works so I could find my spots. I was starting to feel a little special when I kept driving around in circles. That's one of the weirdest garages I've ever been in. But I'm excited about the pool and I can't wait to move in! Have to sell my house first, so if anyone's dying to live in the suburbs, I've got a great house for you.

Once they finish resurfacing the garage, it will be better. Going up the down lane is always confusing. But rest assured, by the end of next week, we will probably be going down the up lane.
The new surface is really nice though.

M&I Bank is going into the former U.S. Bank space in Wallstreet Tower. M&I is latest to bank on DowntownInstitution looks to deposit branch at old U.S. Bank site Kansas City Business Journal - October 8, 2007 by Jim Davis Staff Writer Marshall & Ilsley Bank is heading to downtown Kansas City. The Milwaukee-based bank will occupy U.S. Bank's former branch at 1101 Walnut St. Wes Grammer of RED Brokerage LLC, the space's leasing agent, said he expects a contract to close in two months. Grammer said the tenant is a bank not now in Downtown. He declined to provide further details, but two people familiar with the property said Marshall & Ilsley is the prospect. Officials with Marshall & Ilsley, also known as M&I, couldn't be reached for comment. http://kansascity.bizjournals.com/kansascity/stories/2007/10/08/story5.html
