Right now the area is being slated for additional greenspace and "wet weather management" along Brush Creek.  It may be used for a future expansion of the KCPL substation.

^^^^^ really, really lame.  'additional greenspace'?  As if the acres of empty land there are so well used as to necesitate 'additional greenspace'.  I dearly hope there is a long-term plan for this land that is related either to Stowers or UMKC, because right now it is totally underused real estate.

It's probably not a very attractive parcel in that it is at risk of flooding by being in the Brush Creek flood  plain.

No more flood prone than the Kaufman Foundation and Discovery Center.  Ollie Gates got redevelopment rights years ago and has done nothing with it.

Probably this afternoon.  I think we all got pretty much the same shots.  While we were there a car pulled up and two guys got out.  One was wearing a black trenchcoat and hair from the early Metallica years.  Didn't really look at the other.  As Lars approached us he whipped out a big maglight and used it to help him hop up an old dock.  Then he asked if we were urban explorers and if we were on any sites.  He looked kind of douchey so I didn't divulge much info.  He was one of those people that was all caught up in the hype of being "secretive".

Here's one shot from yesterday that I posted on my photoblog...

...not HDR - there wasn't really enough variation in colors and tones to make a good HDR. Had it been a partly cloudy springtime day, then yeah...
