Dude's entitled to his opinion. Nothing is more obnoxious that when everyone says, "OMG THIS IS GREAT" and I try it and it sucks. Then I say, "this kinda sucks" and everyone says, "OMG YOU'RE JUST TOO COOL WHY DON'T YOU GO BACK TO GRINDERS???? LOL!" Don't be that guy.

Yeah but Mean you haven't exclusively used your membership here to bitch about every restaurant in the metro and grind axes with your former employers in the restaurant industry.

Precisely - exhibit A, completely trash the hell out of a restaurant's food when all you did was order a bar app.

In fairness, Mr. Butt has opined on lots of other topics, and has even spoken kindly of at least several restaurants including blanc and bluestem.

His body of work speaks for itself. Probably just a frustrated line cook at a hotel out to talk down most food he runs across because he never got "his shot"

Every time I see this idiot post it's something negative. Go back to where you come from. Your input does nothing for this website. Sure you can have your opinion, but sometimes keeping it to yourself is a good thing too. It's always easier to find something negative to say versus something positive. There is a lot of positive things happening in KC as well as negative things. This forum should focus on the good things happening, although that's hard some time. We need more positive input. All opinions should be welcome, but my feeling is that this website should be furthering the positive aspects of KC, rather than denigrating KC.

seriously?!?!
what did he say that was so bad? he doesn't like R Bar. that's offensive to a large group of people? there have been a number of experiences shared online that detailed mediocre food and bad service at R Bar since its opening. i haven't heard anything bad in a while, but why do you need to be spiteful to someone that shares his/her experience on a discussion board.
and KC(P) why do you feel the need to attack someone's professional/career status because he/she states an opinion you disagree with. you're better than that.

Despite the potential appearance of hypocrisy since I'm sure at some point I've said something snarky when you trashed a place I liked, I tend to agree. I don't think any greater good is served by everyone on here thinking everything is awesome all the time. Certainly this would be a far more boring place if it were a circle jerk fawning over every bar, restaurant, hotel, and proposed development that came down the line.

I never said I hated the place, I left thinking I might have hit it on an off night. They were dead, the chef wasn't there. I was just taken back by all the glowing reviews here at the forum and really looked forward to trying the place. I tried it I wasn't wowed. I didn't trash the place, I won't even go there. I've been known not to couch my words so If it offends you Lenexatokcmo, sorry i hurt you. You don't know me and if you do then speak up to me, a lot of people don't know me or of my work and talk shit about me are you one of them? or have we met? You are in the business is your food up for critic? You talk the talk can you walk it? Yeah but Mean you haven't exclusively used your membership here to bitch about every restaurant in the metro and grind axes with your former employers in the restaurant industry.
The only employers I have ever bagged on here took credit for a dish I put on their menu early on my career, that gave them a glowing review in wine spectator with a full page color picture of my dish and wine spectator saying the dish showed how innovative the TWO were. I was shocked after I seen the magazine some years later. Would have been nice if they sent me a copy. Powercat you're just useless His body of work speaks for itself. Probably just a frustrated line cook at a hotel out to talk down most food he runs across because he never got "his shot"
.maybe we can have a beer at sidekicks and discuss my "shot" or what ever

all you guys did was empower butter breath's opinion by attacking him/her like a pack of rabid wolves. i don't read the most ridiculous forumers anymore, don't know anything about them and certainly don't respond. AKP is the only wack pack forumer i occasionally read because he seems to bring something to the table on occasion (which is now a unique thing). i'd never heard of butter breath until KC(P) started dissing him/her for working in the service industry, but now ill definitely be going through old posts. I just get tired of internet hate everything type people.
the Internet is obviously not for you.

I have what industry BB works....his posts of dissing "every" place led me to that assumption. TK, I think you "know" me well enough to not just attack people on here...which I don't think I even did in this case, any comments I made were generally towards that attitude, not any individual.

i went back through BB's earliest posts (which date back to 2006 for God's sake). i really don't find the attitude "haterish" whatsoever...lots of posts about the foodie scene-- both informative as well as critical. some of his overall opinions on downtown crime and culture are completely outdated, but that's pretty standard for mainstream KC. a similar spat as this R Bar thing broke out after Nara opened and BB had some not nice things to say. now that i know about BB i'm actually interested to hear his opinion on different restaurants. he sounds a lot more informed than 99% of the people posting in the Scene section. i get where you're coming from, but not everyone is as positive about life/dining/downtown/kcmo/etc. as you are. you're right to call people out on their negativity, but not everyone wants to burn the city to the ground because they think the food sucks at _______. besides i'm guessing that BB is in his 60s judging by his grew up at 20th&van Brunt/"downtown is full of prostitutes"/lived in 5 different countries & 15 different cities bio. you need to remember cohort group (65+) you're addressing the next time you start to ride out on AKP or BB. btw, BB has other posts about the gay scene in KC so i don't think that was a homophobic jab.

Yeah, We will see if this person changes their tone a bit when they post next. My guess is that they won't, and you are probably right, just don't read his/her posts anymore. I still say they are a douche(young or old).
