heheh.

i know i am in the vast minority here (or anywhere) but i honestly do not like sunny days. seriously. i am not "gloomy" or anything (and in fact reject the cloudy = "gloomy" rationale). i just prefer cloudy days.

if i had a climate-changing machine, i would make it cloudy and 47 every day of the year for the rest of my life. this is why you will never catch me south of KC, and will only catch me in KC b/c it is my home. heheh

is this list of Metro areas? I mean, wouldn't KCK or OP be up there also?
KC Region is all part of the same animal regardless of state and county lines.

i love kc cuz it's mild and sunny in the spring, sunny and hot in the summer, cool and cloudy in the fall and cold and snowy in the winter

baseball wouldn't be baseball if we couldn't look fwd to a refreshing spring after a cold winter and football/hockey wouldn't be as cool if we weren't looking for some relief from the brutality of normal kc summers

Neal Lachman chose us because of our world renowned sunny weather. Now we have the data to back it up. Too bad he left for a sunnier place. I guess the WTB will eventually be on the equator.

I am surprised to see the company we are in...AZ, AZ, CA, NV, TX, TX...then Kansas City, MO.

The convention and economic development people have long touted our surprisingly high number of sunny days, but I guess like many things the locals don't realize how good we have it.

Although we often get morning fog out here in coastal areas, we have months on end of rainless, sunny days. I don't think we've had actual rain here since April. Sometimes I miss rain. Or even a chilly, gray overcast winter day in KC when you're waiting for snow to start. But winter wears on me fast. By January I used to get depressed by the dark, cold and snow. It has a very claustorphobic feeling to me.

I noticed pretty quickly, when I first moved here, that KC doesn't suffer from a whole lot of weather.

The only problem with having so many hot sunny days is we have the humidity to go with it.

The humidity is only a problem when it's hot, and that's only a month or two a year. All in all, I'd say that KC has excellent weather.

My only problem with KC is the weather. I'd say it generally sucks year-round. The humidity bothers me even on cool days - makes you feel clammy. But you've got so much wind, heat and humidity in the summer and then it seems to go straight to too cold. I also noticed when I lived in Denver that their lower winter humidity makes the cold more tolerable than in KC.

Where I live now I have over 230 days of the year where the average high is in the 70s (the remainder are in the 80s) according to weather.com. KC only has 64 days per year where the average is in the 70s. It just doesn't add up to a great place to be comfortable outdoors very much.

seasons, CA, we have 4 seasons :) As soon as I'm sick of the cold, it gets warm, start getting too hot, here comes fall. I don't mind a little bit of cold and I LOVE the heat.

I've never understood the thought of humidity makes you warmer in the summer but somehow in the winter makes you feel colder?

Okay, enter armchair scientist.

In the summer, the humidity limits evaporation, which limits the ability to your sweat to transfer heat away from your body. Thus, you are hotter.

In the winter, the humidity make the air more dense which allows it to conduct cold more effectively. Thicker, cold air is more penetrating and gets and stays colder.

That is from my "use common sense instead of studying" technique that got me through my first college degree.

Maybe this comes from growing up, but I think the weather is darn near perfect. Anywhere further north would be way too cold, and anywhere further south would be way too nasty humid. OK I guess someplace that's 70 year-round could also be called perfect, but to me it would seem really artificial without all four seasons.

There is only about one month in the summer and one month in the winter where the weather is too extreme. Otherwise it's very possible to be out running/biking/whatever most of the year.

if I could remove Jan 15 - Feb 15th, I think our weather would be even better...that's the only real time I'm not digging KC.
