Re: KC in TV and Movies
Louis CK "Louie" was all bout him having to do an interview on the radio before a weekend in KC at Stanfords. He, again, rips KC a new one. Very funny running joke in my opinion.
On the radio with KC DJ, "Worst city in North America, Mexico and Canada included. Am I right or what?"

Re: KC in TV and Movies
If I was a comedian working at Stanfords in the Legends i would probably rip KC as well. You could do a bunch of shows at stanfords and see nothing but farms from airport and farms and open land surrounding the developement in which the comedy club is located. Wonder where the comedians stay when they are working out there, hopefully not at legends

Re: KC in TV and Movies
I saw a show out there once and the comedienne mentioned she was staying at the Legends (forget the name of the hotel, but it wasn't Great Wolf, which would have been hilarious).

Re: KC in TV and Movies
Hope they can make this place as attactive as Claudia, the head chick in charge. The food has always been superb (death by halibut saute'), but the finishes need to be extracted from the run-down Waids and cutesy antique strewn diner ghosts that haunt the place.

Re: KC in TV and Movies
I just saw this Louie episode of him where KC is mentioned. Lol, his agent looks like a 13 year old. They use Opie and Anthony as the stereotypical Johnny Dare type of DJ but the Dj's just mumble and he just responds with yes and no answers. Then he says he hates KC, that its worse then mexico and the DJ's then just hang up.

Re: KC in TV and Movies
That looks like the old Independence Avenue location, which if I remember right burned down several years ago.

Re: KC in TV and Movies
http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/c ... treasures/I'm not sure if this was mentioned already earlier in the thread but I caught the 2nd half of this show last night and it was pretty interesting. 2 hosts compete against each other to find the best artifact that will go to the Smithsonian for display from people in a city. Last night was KC and included a pistol claimed to be from Jesse James, a tobacco pouch from Geronimo, and an original printing of the Kansas Constitution among other things. From the website it looks like the KC episode airs 8/22 and I think it's worth a watch. There were a lot of great shots of downtown KC.

"Up to Speed" is a new show produced by Hulu and director Richard Linklater. Tim "Speed" Levitch hosts a travelogue type show across America. The third episode is about Missouri and Kansas and focuses on the border war, going back to the Civil War. Haven't had a chance to check it out yet. http://www.hulu.com/up-to-speed

Re: KC in TV and Movies
Not KC in TV, but Colin Hanks ("Mad Men", "Orange County" son of Tom) was in town and seemed to really enjoy his trip here. Liked the WWI Museum, said Gates was overrated. He also said this restaurant was the most amazing he had been to in ages:

The new movie, Looper, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, and Jeff Daniels is partially set in a futuristic, dystopian Kansas City. http://www.examiner.com/article/new-looper-featurette-explains-the-termhttp://www.loopermovie.com/site/http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1276104/

Re: KC in TV and Movies
The most recent No Reservations was a compilation episode of compilcation episodes, but it also included a replay of the Black Keys bit from Woodyard BBQ.

Preview for the new season of ESPN 30 for 30. One doc will be about former Royal Bo Jackson, another about KU's attempts to get the original rules of basketball written by James Naismith. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2x9IMEHvfh0&feature=plcp

Re: KC in TV and Movies
I really think they should do one about the mob and Len Dawson and the suspicion that Super Bowl IV was being fixed.

Re: KC in TV and Movies
I think they only do stories from the last 30 years, but if they expand it, that would be an awesome story. KCPT or someone should do a good story on that.

Re: KC in TV and Movies
Oops -- forgot the basic premise. NFL Films would be a logical choice, but they'd probably prefer that people forget about the possibility of game fixing. especially in light of last night's game.
