 Re: Westport's fate post-P&L
Yeah, I could see martini corner. Troost would probably work, too. South of there, even, in the ~50s along Troost, perhaps. Or maybe West 39th.

Oddly Correct Coffee Roasters now open at 3934 Main, the way the pour the coffee looks pretty unique. Here is website and pitch article, they also offer coffee delivery in the midtown area http://www.oddlycorrect.com/http://www.pitch.com/fatcity/archives/2 ... ain-street

Pour Over! I've been to a place like in Silicon Valley. It supposed to allow you to evenly distribute the water and heat over the coffee and control the water flow to match that particular coffee. You can buy cheap plastic versions of these things on Amazon and use regular coffee filters. Useful for camping trips.

 Re: Westport's fate post-P&L
The guy who owns Oddly Correct is a great guy. He's a good example of the type of people that go to Redeemer Fellowship (the church that everyone on here seems to be so scared about). His family is one many many families who live in the surrounding areas. The idea that Redeemer people are suburbanites driving in for a couple hours once a week and then abandoning the city couldn't be farther from the truth.

 Re: Westport's fate post-P&L
I wouldn't be surprised if all those little storefronts around Oddly Correct were filled with Church affiliated businesses. I guess i'd rather see that kind of stuff go in then some Payday loan shop.

 Re: Westport's fate post-P&L
Just heard that today. Guess they're going into the Stanford/Dare/Karma space. Hope they do well. Yes. EVERYONE on this site is scared shitless of a church. Regardless, they sell Oddly Correct at The Brick and The Filling Station - I really enjoy their coffee. And, it's affordable compared to Broadway Roasterie.

 Re: Westport's fate post-P&L
WSPanic, you know what I mean. Of course people aren't literally afraid of the church (or at least I hope not). I'm just saying that there seems to be a lot of distrust on this board that the church is going to tear down everything it can get its hands on for parking. I'm simply pointing out that this coffee shop is a great representation of the type of people who attend the church and of the community-focused attitude of the church.

Sounds good. From what I gather, older buildings along Broadway restored...Old XO club demolished. Win win??

The new Gusto is the best yet incarnation of that space.

 Re: Westport's fate post-P&L
I agree. Quite a change to walk into a place having a "Smiths/Morrissey" night vs. walking by a place with 50 year old "bikers" outside listening to 98.9.

Although Karma did have a couple nights a week where new-wave 80s style DJs played...

 Re: Westport's fate post-P&L
Went to Gusto while in town for the Holidays. I liked the look of the space...cool circus tent/middle eastern feel in the back area (though my friends didn't like the look). Love how the old tin ceiling is still there. Looks like it must date back at least 100 years if not all the way to 1850. (It's in rough shape). One bartender was a total ass hole...too much attitude. It was hip hop night I guess...not my favorite, but people we dancing at least.

^This will be an interesting test to see if it reduces the late night violence. Many think that place was the last remaining source of most Westport issues.
