 Re: OFFICIAL: Briarcliff Village
I talked with someone living near Briarcliff yesterday. I asked him if those kids go to Park Hill schools. He said, "No, they're supposed to go to NKC schools, but no way would they consider them. They go private"
I thought, man, snootiness ain't just in JoCo or the Plaza anymore!

 Re: OFFICIAL: Briarcliff Village
That's not totally true. I know of at least 2 families living in Briarcliff West that send their kids to NKC schools. And I've seen the school buses in there. Honey, you will find snootiness anywhere you look including on this forum. However, are you saying that you consider sending kids to private school a "snooty" thing?

 Re: OFFICIAL: Briarcliff Village
Not at all. I was referring to the way he noted, "But they wouldn't go THERE", referring to NKC. I think privates are fine. I have been educated in public & privates my entire life, prob 1/2 & 1/2

 Re: OFFICIAL: Briarcliff Village
Oak Park is a an excellent high school in that district but I don't doubt what he says. Snobs are everywhere for sure. I'd say they're the exception rather than the rule up here SO FAR. Not so sure that's the case in those other places he mentioned.

 Re: OFFICIAL: Briarcliff Village
oak park is o.k., but wouldn't the kids in briarcliff go to northtown? it's a lot closer. then again i don't know what the latest boundaries are. when i went to eastgate, half the kids went to northtown and the other half to 'tonka and 'tonka was made up of half of eastgate and half of maple park. now all the kids at eastgate go to northtown. and northgate has reopened.

 Re: OFFICIAL: Briarcliff Village
I'm sure that some things may have changed a little since I graduated from NKC, but there are a large number of kids that go to public schools in Briarcliff West...much more than go to private I'm sure.

 Re: OFFICIAL: Briarcliff Village
I'm not sure when you graduated but the boundaries are still basically the same, except for the addition of Northgate. The fun part will be when Staley High School comes online. Eastgate- is still split between Winnetonka and NKC Maplepark- all still go to Winnetonka Antioch- split between Oak Park and Winnetonka Northgate- all go to NKC New Mark- all go to Oak Park All of the highschool students in Briarcliff have always gone to NKC since the area was first developed (unless they are going to Pius or Rockhurst ). That is something that I doubt will ever change.

 Re: OFFICIAL: Briarcliff Village
Park Hill South high school is practically on top of Briarcliff West. It's considerably closer than northtown.

 Re: OFFICIAL: Briarcliff Village
It is really close but Park Hill South is in the Park Hill School District, not the North Kansas City School District. The NKC school district boundary with Park Hill is the Clay/Platte county line.
