People, people...

Go to Friends on 39th.

It's great sushi, it's half price on Saturday afternoons and Monday nites and you don't have to deal with d-bag patrons.

The funny thing is, that's what sushi usually is if you go to Japan or other Asian countries.

I am by no means a sushi/sashimi expert.
I am partial to Kaiyo in leawood.
I was a big juns fan for a long time but the last 3 time I went it the fish was not fresh.
At Kaiyo I have never had anything that was not very good to excellent.
I usually get 2-3 rolls and a sashimi plate to share.
They will even improvise rolls for you.

This forum seems much more tolerant when you are forthright with your shilling.  Next time try something like: "hi, my name is _____.  I just opened a new restaurant.  Here is the info ______________.  Please come give us a try . . . "  Much more likely to get a warm welcome.

Yes.  Defaming Jun's, the first and, in my opinion, best sushi restaurant in Kansas City, under the transparent guise of an independent critic while pushing your own restaurant will only earn you a boycott from me at least.  Not a good business move.  Also it's just a shit-head thing to do.  Two thumbs down, Cochon.

I do not work for the restaurant. I am relating my experience and will continue to promote good restaurants whenever I find them.
This was an open forum to discuss restaurants and I am surprised that the people on here take such offense. I posted the link to help people find a hidden gem.
I have been called names before so your not the first.

probably would gain more credibility if you participated in multiple threads about something else than this one sushi restaurant...this site sees a lot of "fake" accounts used for the purpose of pushing their agenda...usually by people with a small # of posts all about the same restaurant, bar, etc.

I know this is a Sushi thead, but what are some of your favorite teppenyakki restaurants in town? I actually had Gojo for the first time last week and for the price it was well worth it. They don't put on a big show like some other places, but I don't really care about that anymore since I've seen the onion volcano and knife tossing so many time already.  :)

I have few posts because I am lazy and am indifferent about certain topics.  I am not pushing my own agenda, but I will say that Domo in Brookside kicks ass! :D  .....Nara may be the worst I've had, but I've heard from friends that their food has gotten a lot better, so I will have to try that place again.

I can see your point. I do not have the free time or the repressed anger that some others have.
I have recently discovered this site and will continue to post.
I actually plan to try Juns again. One other good restaurant is Sushi Haru on State Line. They have a definite Korean Slant to their food that is quite good.

Sushi haru is good. And i will agree that there is def. a Korean slant to their food.

Haru's owner is Korean.

If you like Haru in K.C., you will like Wa in Lawrence off Mass Street.  Because the owner of Haru sold Wa and opened Haru.

Best Teppanyaki (sp) is i think Kyoto on 69 and 135th. GoJo is not very good IMO, but to each his own.

Funny thing is, in Asia i noticed sushi is strictly all Sashimi.  So, if you like Sushi here in the states, you may not like it in Japan, Korea, or China.  Totally different.  Although they do have Udon noodles and Tempura, but not rolls (that i could see).  Also, Sashimi is sliced very very thick.

But this is the states, and we have to americanize sushi just like pizza or chinese food.  no problem with that because i love rolls and eat sushi at least once a week.

I dined at Jun's last night and you will have to let me know when is a good night to go. The sushi I had last night was average at best.

I plan on trying Domo again next week.

I do a lot of charcuterie work. (curing of meats and sausage making)
I love the pig and could eat one from one end to another (actually I have)
I have not been to the restaurant. The last time I was in New Orleans it was quite a disappointment with the exception of restaurant Luke.
I have been called a pig on many occasions. (I thought I would beat everyone to that)

We went to Mother's, Acme Oyster Bar, Clover grill , Emerils (Emerils was not my choice) and Luke.
Luke was great everything else below average.

Will be going back in September for another reunion.

Any place around town to sample your goods?
If you go to Hulu and search for a show called after hours with Daniel there's an episode called Cochon

http://www.hulu.com/videos/search?query ... ith+Daniel

He also did a few other restaurants in the quarter.
His shows rock.

You need to go to Jacques Imo's

jacquesimoscafe.com

Great Southern cooking  - limited reservations unless it's a really large party but no problem - put your name on the list when you arrive and go next door to the bar and they'll send someone in to let you know when a table's free!
