Post Renaissance Place
Does anyone know what's going on with this development?  It's located in KCMO, just North of Gladstone and just South of MO 152 Hwy.  It's on N. Indiana (MO 1 Hwy).

A few years ago, this suburban (sorry for the "S" word) residential/commercial development had signs advertising it.  There were signs showing where a day care would be, where a bar would be, where a gas station would be, where a restaurant would be, etc.  Not much changed until FINALLY 2 houses had been built (but not completed).  A year later, those 2 semi-completed houses still stand and no new development has happened.

There was a major traffic light pre-maturely installed.  It had been up for at least 2 years (that I'm aware of, and maybe even longer).  It was never used.  Recently, I noticed that the lights had been taken down, but the poles remain.

Circled in RED is the development, circled in YELLOW is the intersection where the stop light was installed, never used, and was taken out years later.

So, what happened?  Why was the project started, but still has yet to be finished?

It currently consists of sparkling new streets, streetlights, utilities, shoulder-high weeds, and two unfinished homes that have been converted into raccoon condos.

I know.  I was going to take a picture today, but it was too dark for my camera.  :x

What I want to know is WHY!  Why is nothing more than sparkling new streets, streetlights, utilities, shoulder-high weeds, and two unfinished homes that have been converted into raccoon condos?

Does it need a toothbrush?

Dig through the dirt and leftover construction debris, and you may find one (among other things).

The dude(s) ran out of money. Maybe once they complete Maple Woods Parkway, there'll be another plan.

The built 2 nearly-completed houses and ran out of money?  Did they not see that coming?

Developer went under.  With all of the sprawl planned for 152 corridor I'm sure someone else will come in and buy the land.

I thought this development was in Gladstone and not Excelsior Springs?

Gladstone is the new Excelsior Springs...... or I should say the new new Excelsior Springs without the spring water.

But aren't you getting (or may have by now) a natatorium...pronounced "indoor pool and rec center" for the rest of us?

Any idea why the traffic lights were installed, never used, and uninstalled?  Seems like a waste of tax-payer money.

Isn't that how tax-payer money is usually spent?

The Renaissance North property sold and the name has been changed to Parkway Village. The developer Tim Harris of Star Development Corp. will not accept TIF to complete the project.

I noticed they are building a bike trail and installing sewer or stormwater infrastructure. Good to see progress here, I drive through here at least twice a day.

I drive by this place all the time, was just by there several times this weekend. You can see where some road work has been done and some earth moving, but really not a lot has changed with this plot of land. Don't know if they are waiting on something or if they are just waiting for the summer months to start. It certainly looks like its moving along at a very slow pace.
