Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District
I find their procedures odd but don't have a problem with the cover then.

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District
Listened to TonyKC on Darla Jay last night - debating the merits of the $10 cover charge. (Don't ask me why I was listening to that show).
Basically, TKC objected to the cover charge as "financial profiling." wtf is financial profiling?
However, it became painfully clear that the financial profiling argument was a pretty thin subterfuge for his hatred for P&L and Cordish and the public subsidy that it receives each year.
Every argument somebody would make (i.e. the cover charge is merely an anti-loitering policy and every business across America has an anti-loitering policy) he would say he agreed, but P&L doesn't have a right to play be the same rules because they "have their hand out for $12 million a year and KC hasn't gotten the renaissance they were promised." I swear, he dropped this line about 15 different times during his interview. It was kind of embarrasing for him.

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District
Why Darla Jaye (or anyone for that matter) would have TKC on their show as an expert about anything is something that I don't understand. I remember when Cosentino's opened in the P&L, TKC was against it, of course. Darla Jaye had him on her show as a "downtown expert." ](*,) I remember this exchange... TKC: The new store is dirty and it is ultimately bad for downtown. Nobody can afford to shop there. Darla: Have you been to the new grocery store yet? TKC: No.

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District
FACT: mean being a ninja is actually more likely than Tony Botello being a “downtown expert”.

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District
Inciting people to boycott the P&L seems like a pretty effective way to reduce the public subsidy.

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District
Yes. Lot of rumors and misinformation out there on this....typical from those who want to hate p&l at every turn.
Don't have a credit card? Show you before midnight. This is all to get people to show up earlier.

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District
I'm happy to hate on P&L for any legitimate reasons, but this one is just dumb.

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District
I'm wondering. Is it time for the City to break its' contract with Cordish for the Power & Light District, and perhaps hire the developers of Park Place in Leawood to buyout Cordish, develop and lease the District? Even if that's impossible, do you think the Park Place developers would do a better job operating the Power & Light District? AMC wants Cordish out of the Mainstreet Theater partnership. http://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/print-edition/2011/09/23/amc-entertainment-wants-cordish-co-to.html?ana=e_phhttp://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/print-edition/2011/09/23/park-place-development-goes-into.html
