Ate at Remedy tonight, and it was great! I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu, and it was fantastic. My wife who has all kinds of dietary restrictions had the crab cakes and dairy-free creamed corn, and she loved both of them. We also had the deviled eggs, which were some sort of pesto/hybrid, and we tore those up too! I'm so glad to have a restaurant like this in Waldo, we love that they source local ingredients. Try it out!

Does anyone know what is planned for the lower floor of the building on the NW corner of 75th and Wornall? The tax service has signs posted that they will reopen upstairs next year, and El Dorado Design Build, who built the modern building that Kennedy's/Remedy occupies, has their sign up on it. It looks like the barber shop, jewelry store and tax spaces are all getting gutted and turned into one space. Is this Quinton's expanding already? Like they did in Columbia?

There was a mention somewhere on this site that it was going to be a PepperJax location. I know there's one in Lawrence, not sure if there's one in the metro already.

After eating at Remedy I strolled by the corner and read the work permit. All it said was that El Dorado Design Build (also responsible for the new Troost bridge over brush creek) pulled the permit, and that the total work value was going to be $550k. No info on planned tenant.

Ate there Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great cocktails and food. OMG..those crabcakes were ridiculous! All of the food was terrific. Our waitress, Megan, was very attentive, knowledgeable about the menu and funny. Really great to have something like this in Waldo.

I had the fried chicken last night and it was great. My wife had a BELT and loved it. We split the corn side dish and both liked it. We don’t get to Waldo very often but have been here twice and are trying to work it in our rotation. Everyone seems very friendly and eager to talk about the restaurant, the food and what they want to accomplish.

Had the burger at Remedy a few nights ago. It had a cole slaw stuff on it and was delicious. I'll put it in my top 10 of burgers in the city. Wasn't overly frou-frou, came with fries. Seems to already have a good following at this place, maybe some is still spillover from when it was Kennedy's and people show up not expecting it had changed. But the couple times I've been in they're 80% full.

The Food Critics on KCUR seemed to like the place a lot. Will have to check it out.

Negotiations for PepperJax to come to Waldo have fallen through, but Pickleman's is negotiating for the spot now.

For anyone interested.... I was very distraught to learn our "local", Cantina del Ray had their lease bought out. Their last night was Saturday. Coming in a "Wine Dive" bar from Des Moines, I'm suspecting here, as his business partners are from KC and Waldo is a somewhat similar neighborhood to this place in Des Moines......

I'm withholding opinions. For now......

Amazed Cantina Del Ray stayed open as long as it did.

Aww, I loved Cantina. Their asada tacos, enchiladas, fajitas and margaritas were amazing. They didn't shut down, the lease was bought out......

Not completely sure, I was told it was a provision the building owner puts into the lease?

Looks like another Abnos property. How does he do it? The man is like Shiva, with several arms and something up every sleeve.

Got a chance to finally try Remedy. Really cool space and a great place for a beer. Great beer selection and super friendly staff without being annoyingly friendly. I noticed they ask patrons what their name is and make it a point to say your name every time they address you. Bartender was pretty knowledgeable about drinks. I had to try the smoked bologna sandwich and it did not disappoint. Definitely will go back.

Agree with everything you said. I also tried the smoked bologna sandwich and it was good. slightly heavy on the condiments though.

From KC Public Schools school/site repurposing (http://www.kcpublicschools.org/Page/607):

>Waldo Partners, aka Hen House, terminated its contract to purchase the Bingham site in late Oct 2012. The district is currently assessing interest from previously short-listed teams. Once the district has additional information, it will work with the Tower Homes Neighborhood Association and the Waldo Business Association to provide an update to local stakeholders.

Nooooooo.
